中文(Chinese)
• We will be learning about food and weather words in Chinese this month. See My First Chinese Words: 8,9,24,30,36 and 34.

数学(Math)
We will have our Benchmark 2 Math Assessment on January 10th.
The first week of January we will continue work on the following:
• Count, read and write whole numbers to 100.
• Represent whole numbers using the numbers line, models and number sentences.
• Identify numbers missing from a counting sequence.
• Compute basic addition facts (up to 10+10) and the related subtraction facts by
using strategies (e.g. 6+7=(6+4) +3=10+3=13)
• Identify, create and label growing patterns using objects, pictures, and
symbolic notation.
• Name, create, and sort geometric plane figures (i.e. circle, triangle,
rectangle, square, trapezoid, rhombus, parallelogram, hexagon)
• Identify the appropriate tools for measuring temperature.
• Name the months of the year and the seasons in order.
• Collect and represent data using pictograph and bar graph.

We will spend the next three weeks of January working on the following (Block 7)
• Count, read and write whole numbers to 100.
• Represent whole numbers using the numbers line, models and number sentences.
• Compare and order sets of objects and numbers using the terms greater than,
less than, and equal to when describing the comparisons.
• Identify one more, one less, 10 more, 10 less than a giving number.
• Identify numbers missing from a counting sequence.
• Compute basic addition facts (up to 10+10) and the related subtraction facts
using strategies (e.g. 6+7=(6+4) +3=10+3=13)
• Collect and represent data using tables, pictograph, bar graphs, and tally
marks.

科学(Science)
• We will be learning about Map Skills, Season Quilt and Types of Weathers this
month.
